Sinaloan Milk Snake
The Milk Snake (Lampropeltis triangulum) is an American snake species found from
South Eastern Canada all the way south to Northern South America. The various
subspecies inhabit swamps, deserts, and mountains. The Sinaloan Milk Snake is a
subspecies and is found in the coastal and arid scrubland habitats of Northeast Mexico.
You may wonder where milk snakes get their name from. It is believed that many years
ago, some dairy farmers must have noticed Milk Snakes in their barn. When the cows
did not produce the desired quantity of milk, they may have remarked that the Milk
Snakes must have sucked the cows dry the night before. The Milk Snakes were in the
barns actually helping the farmers by looking for rodents to eat.
