Ring Tailed Coatimundi
Coatimundis, also known as Coatis, are relatives of Red Pandas, Kinkajous and Raccoons.
Ring Tailed Coatimundis are the least threatened species, but are the victims of habitat loss in their native South America. They are native to Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Surinam, Uruguay and Venezuela.
Natural enemies include Jaguarundis, Foxes, Tayras, Ocelots, Jaguars, Hawks and Eagles.
White-nosed Coatimundi (Nasua narica) can be found within Zoofari’s rainforest reserve in Belize. Locally in Belize, the coati is known as "Quash".
